Crane Operator Classes Kingston - Crane operator training is for operators and supervisors of overhead lifting machinery. The course is suitable for both new and current operators. Course content addresses applicable federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The first component of training consists of complete in-class instruction and examination. After that is a hands-on customized session with practical instruction and assessment.
The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane equipment. The instruction will specifically focus on all aspects of crane operation which could be performed at the trainee's workplace. Upon finishing the course, trainees will learn how to operate particular overhead lifting devices, related components and attachments efficiently and safely.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator can develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment can be avoided with right habits. Training reduces the chance of a workplace injury or incident taking place.
The course would encompass approximately eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants will be graded on their understanding of training material via an assessment of their practical knowledge and written testing. The minimum acceptable score is 80%.
During the in-class session, participants will be taught applicable causes of occurrences and damages, guidelines and legislation, danger awareness, internal responsibility, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, kinds of hardware, equipment applications/rigging, hitches and angles, operator/pedestrian safety, turning/flipping loads safely, hand signals for operators and slingers.
The practical training and evaluation portion of the course should be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training would be held at the trainees' facility. The length of this practical training part is one to two hours. The instructor will train two operators at a time on skills like right rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.
After completing both the practical training and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will be tested via an exam. Each participant will be needed to sign the safety rules. Individual wallet certificates would be given to trainees who are successful. The company would be given a framed wall certificate.
